If you are living with diabetes or other high-risk disorders, properly managing your condition includes taking care of your feet and legs. These conditions can cause foot numbness and infections, which can be dangerous, but you can take steps to prevent these issues.
BQWCHC’s High Risk Wound and Foot Care program is designed to help you avoid problems with your feet and legs. Our nurse works with you to assess, treat and prevent future wounds, including helping you understand your risks, what steps to take to heal any wounds that occur, and how to prevent future reoccurrences. We also make referrals to specialists, such as chiropodists, pedorthists, dietitians and diabetes educators when needed.
This program is available by referral from a health care professional. To make a referral, download the Wound Care Referral Form. Please fax the completed form to 613-962-5669.
