Your health is influenced by many factors, including how you live and work. These factors are known as the “social determinants of health” and include such things as gender, income, social exclusion, disability and employment.
Our community health centre strives to reduce or remove barriers related to the social determinants of health. For example, our spaces, activities and materials are accessible to people of all abilities. Our community programs help to combat social isolation and we eliminate financial barriers for people with lower incomes by offering free programs and groups.
Through BQWCHC, people can gain access to financial, legal and housing assistance, and child and family services. Along with other CHCs, we advocate for public policies that reduce social inequities and prioritize wellness so that everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
